Who We Are
Kelan Green Energy Resources Limited is an indigenous green company focused in proffering renewable energy innovative solutions to a broad spectrum of clients both domestic and abroad. KGERL offers design, supervision of construction, commissioning and operational monitoring of biogas plants. KGERL project employs biogas technology to convert biowaste (raw material) to biogas for power generation and digestate for fertilizer production. This follows the chain process of anaerobic digestion.
- Substrate Chain: Waste sources/generation, collection, transportation and supply to the digestion facility, and pre-treatment of waste before feeding to the digester.
- Transformation process: Biological and chemical transformation processes of feedstock in the digester which leads to value products.
- Product chain: Post-treatment of outflows from the digester that refine these into improved value products, storage, distribution and utilisation
KGERL BIOGAS AND FERTILIZER
The economic benefit of the anaerobic digestion (AD) process is the production of biogas and digestate (effluent or fertilizer). The biogas is a renewable energy source, which are used as fuel in gas turbine combustion engines for electricity generation and cooking. The use of biogas depends on the amount produced, energy costs, and energy consuming capacity of the plant. Biogas is an effective, renewable, non-fossil fuel with a high methane content that does not lead to greenhouse effect.
Hence, emissions of nitrogen oxides, carbon oxide, hydrocarbons are small in comparison to fossil fuels, petrol and diesel.
The economic value of effluent as fertilizer is an additional benefit. The value of the fertilizer (effluent) of digested sludge varies depending on the type of storage, the practices and techniques of usage. The financial benefits of the digested sludge used in agriculture (with the better output performance than chemical fertilizers) is ascertained by assessing the costs of chemical fertilizers.
